Wrensmoor Castle - Alhambra, CA
Wrensmoor Castle is a Luxury Event Property built in 1925 on 2.7 acres of hillside with sweeping views of Los Angeles and Pasadena, California. Boasting 10 bedrooms, Chef’s kitchen, ballroom, lounge and a Rumpus Room where I envision after party antics unfolding all night long. Chef Cordelia Culver had the brilliance and vision to imagine a new chapter for the property whose evolution from an idyllic family home took a turn in the late 1990’s.
Chef Cordelia hosts Supper Club evenings for clients who have booked Wrensmoor Castle or The Lodge at Malibou Lake (another marvelous Chef Cordelia property) as their wedding venue. These Supper Clubs are filled with music, laughter, imaginative cocktails and mouthwatering food. I was lucky enough to sit next to the Event and Client Manager for Wrensmoor, Reagan Canady. I listened intently as she expressed the mission of Wrensmoor Castle and divulged some sweet, personal accounts about her time at the property. Reagan discussed various entree options as we devoured course after course. The Winter Greens Risotto (chef’s kiss) so damn delish! Don’t skip it. Thank me later.
Mina Joo designed and orchestrated the Supper Club at Wrensmoor in true Mina fashion. She curated a team of industry professionals who styled the event with modern elegance, all the while complimenting the unique history and architecture of the castle hidden in the hills. I don’t know how she does it, but Mina surreptitiously manages large scale events while maintaining total control over every last detail and every last V.I.P. It is an art that you don’t see often in the event industry. She has flawless taste and will not hesitate to intervene if she believes there is a better way. She is masterful.
Susan, owner/designer of Eventive Moments created an intimate, romantic vibe with florals flowing around the property. The lion statues outside were perched on a bed of peach, cream and deep green. She brought each table to life with the most delicate blooms and trailing vines landing amongst twinkling gold votives and floating candles. The dramatic staircase at the front entrance was adorned with a seriously romantic installment cascading down each step. Bonus - Susan is someone you’d love to have a drink with after the night wraps.
Rhubarb Cakes provided a Banana Crème Frâiche Cake and an absolutely gorgeous Lemon Zest Cake. The lemon zest cake was so fresh and tantilizing, I was hunting down a second slice! Tracy (if you’re reading this), you’re a delight! It was a pleasure meeting you.
