Palos Verdes Estates Newborn Session
Rachael and Joe brought their sweet babe home and took some time to settle into their new normal before scheduling their not so new newborn portraits with me. By the time I met their new little love, they had all become very well acquainted. And I must say that parenthood looks damn good on these two.
We had a laid back, sleepy newborn session at their home in Palos Verdes. The weather cooperated with us enough to get some photos in their garden where I photographed their first look only a year earlier on their wedding day. It is an absolute treat for me to be invited into people’s homes in this new and exciting stage in life. It is one of those parts of my job where I actually just pinch myself. It can be chaotic and stressful at times (and I definitely leave looking a little sweaty and disheveled) but always leaves my heart full.
From my experience, parents are always feeling pressured to have their photos done within two weeks of their baby’s arrival. Somewhere along the way, whether it be Pinterest or some photographer trying to convince us that they are in fact the expert on life ;), we have been led to believe that we need to get this photo session done a.s.a.p. I am here to refute that rule. Those first days and weeks can be insanely stressful and depleting. If you want to take your time to get into the swing of parenthood, do just that and schedule your at home newborn session for a month or two or three or four out. Do what makes most sense for your family. At any rate, the only photos you’ll regret are the ones that you didn’t take. That said - partners: GET OUT YOUR PHONES!!! Take all the photos of mom and baby and then get in some as well. Congratulations!
