Dana Point, California Newborn Session
The highly anticipated arrival of sweet baby Jack gave me butterflies all over and as always a twinge of baby fever. And despite being only a month old at the time of his session, his mellow, happy personality was already shining through. Jack is a dream and I couldn’t be more excited to watch what life brings this growing family.
Erin did such a perfect job creating Jack’s black and white nursery. It was fun, sophisticated and personal…down to the little Kiwi who sits perched on the bookcase watching over Momma and baby. The key to a beautiful Newborn Session is to make sure your space is clutter free. A perfectly curated nursery is amazing, but not always feasible as a new parent or when you are a parent bringing home baby #2, #3 and so on. Having a nursery should not be a determining factor when deciding whether to have an in home Newborn Photo Session.
If you don’t have a nursery set up, here’s a pro tip: Find the space with the best light in your home and make sure it is clear of almost everything. Pull in a cozy chair and a neutral throw blanket - layer textures for visual interest if you have sparse design elements. The simpler the better in my opinion. A neutral, minimalistic backdrop will create a timeless Newborn Session that will highlight your family first and foremost. Finally, don’t stress about the session. Let your photographer take the reins, because in the end, documenting these first few days together is the most important thing.
Side Note: There are so many images that melt my heart in this gallery, but big sister Everly bringing baby a tennis ball... stop it!
